Energy Crisis Revisit, Or if You Will: “Gas Lines Redux From the Seventies”

Took the LaBomba  (at the behest of my Brit Better Half) today to the Kroger’s Gas Station to fuel her up, and as usual, I was in a hurry.

Texans have become far too urbanized in my humble opinion. But I have spent so much time overseas in places where impatience is a virtue (France comes immediately to mind), that I have lost that “Lovin’ Feelin’”

This was a rather long queue.

I sallied up behind two vehicles, replete with two consumers of fossil fuel.

Thought I:

“This may take just five minutes.”

Au contraire!

The first finished in a timely fashion.

The second…

Well,

He was fueling a Prius. (Is that a car? A real car? Bullshit!)

Said consumer proceeded to ‘fuel’ his little gay car. (Certainly the tank held no more than twelve gallons). This took five minutes.

Then. Then! He proceeded to spend twelve or fourteen minutes, oh so carefully, draining yet another half cup of petrol into the gas tank.

So, I am thinking: “This ain’t ‘The Last Chance Texaco’, Asshole.”

“Get on wid it and get the fuck outta my way!”

It took all the fiber of my being to refrain from getting out of my Gas Guzzler SUV and knock him right on his ass. Right before I asked him if he were an idiot or just plain stupid, or both (At this point there were no less than four vehicles behind us, waiting…)

But I just sat there, fuming (no pun)

You see? I really have mellowed and  matured. (Proud of me?)

Cheers,

Lancers

  1. “Queue”… haven’t heard that since I came back from the UK! Yes, there are times I feel the rage. My bloodied tongue will stand silent witness to that fact! Morons usually piss me off… but not all who take longer than I think I’d need are morons, and it is important to know the difference. You? You make me laugh!

  2. Matured? Hmm, do you really want me to answer that? But, I get it. I often experience extreme impatience when those around take longer than I think they should. I don’t understand these new, fuel efficient cars (don’t understand any cars.) I buy used, and drive them until they can’t be driven no more. Environment has to accommodate my means.

Going to see Willie and Alison Krauss tonight. Thought of you.

    Fondly,
    Elizabeth

    • I have never been one to waste money on cars, as I really don’t much care to have them own me. In fact, I have probably spent more money on computers than I have on cars. (Please see: “My Mother The Car: http://wp.me/p2Yfgl-Pv )

Gonna see Willie, eh? I am so jealous. I have not seen him since 1976. I want a full report.
      Cheers,

  3. Yes and sometimes, Lance.

Gas line idiots, always annoy me. One, act like you’ve been there before. This simply cannot be the first time you’ve taken your gas cap off and stuck a gas nozzle back onto a pump. Second of all, once back inside your vehicle, do not stick every credit card and receipt used and rendered carefully into separate wallet and purse pockets, apply rouge and lipstick while admiring yourself in the rear view, tell Johnny backseat what he did wrong in class and then and only then decide where you have to drive to next.

You, on this post, did not piss me off this time, Lance. You did get me going, however.

  4. I don’t experience anything I’d consider queue rage, and morons only piss me off when they put people in danger or cost me money. You ain’t worked near hard enough at it to piss me off. I hope that’s not a disappointment. 🙂

    • Your ‘Cents O’ humor’ is mine.
Of course that statement of mine was meant to try to piss someone off…
Of course, you, I knew, would not ‘fail’ for it.
      You crack me up.
And that is a paralyzed fact Sir.
